Skin diseases
The new medlouxx phototerapy is based on the well established IPL- technology. ( Intense Pulsed Ligth). The medlouxx IPL system consists of two radiation heads, which emit monochromatic, non-coherent blue ( 405 nm) or red (630 nm) ligth of high irradiance.
The medlouxx IPL emission is exactly adapted to the photosensitizers, which are presently used in Photodynamic Therapies !
The medlouxx device system includes a special radiation head, which emits at the Nd:YAG wavelength. The irradiance is optimized for photothermic elimination of Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes and therefore, to treat highly effective toenail fungus infections. It is regarded presently as "gold standard" for the treatment of toenail fungus infections.
The adjuvant use of the medlouxx IR before a n d after the IPL treatments increases locally the blood-and lymphatic microcirculation in the affected skin tissue by a factor of about 3, increase the oxygen saturation threshold and the cell energy metabolism. The regeneration capabilities of the skin tissue become improved.
Cellular mechanism
The blue/ violet medlouxx IPL radiation (405 nm) combines immunological and bacteriological effects. The immunological effects are the inhibition and reduction of Langerhans cells and IgE+Langerhans cells, the inhibition of dermal mast cells and the inhibition and reduction of T-Lymphocytes. The activity and number of T-lymphocytes, which are infiltrated in the skin is influenced and decreased directly by the 405 nm radiation. The bacteriological effects are based on the absorption properties of porphyrine molecules, which exhibit a maximum absorption peak ( Soret-peak) at 405 nm. The high energy of the blue/violet photons breacks the porphyrine bonds, reactive oxygen becomes free, which destroys the cell walls of the bacteria. This phototoxic elimination is highly effective even for bacteria, which are resistant against anti-biotics. The photoxic elimination of porphyrine-containing bacterias was demonstrated for Propionibacterium acnes , Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Heliobacter Pylori , Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia..
Indications:
- atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, vitiligo, Lichen ruber planus and acne vulgaris up to grade IV
- photodynamic treatments of actinic keratosis
- photodynamic treatments of acne
- photodynamic skin rejuvenation
- onychomycosis (toenail fungus infections)
In contrast to the established UVA1 phototherapy, the treatment with 405 nm medlouxx IPL irradiation is complete UV- free, therefore without any carcinogenic risks so that longer treatment durations can be applied !
Treatment parameters
The treatment duration depends on the skin pigmentation ( melanin concentration). For european skin patients ( type I and II in Fitzpatrick scale) in average 5 min per area are recommended. For medium dark skin patients, the treatment time should be increased up to 7,5 min per area and for dark skin patients up to 10 min per area.
The treatment of toenail fungus infections requires of about 10 min per area and must be performed only 1-2 times. It is recommended, to treat also the non-contaminated toenails, to prevent any unintentional spreading of the infection.
We strongly recommend the adjuvant use of the medlouxx IR before a n d after any IPL treatment or photodynamic therapy!
